Hi Jedi,
There's been a lot of new members lately, so let's talk about donations and requests. The subject of donations and requests comes up a lot, so I thought I would share some guidelines we will be using in Jedi Legacy:
1. Be generous, and be active in requesting and donating. The the main benefit of being in an active clan is to get reinforcement troops when you need them. One thing you can do is to use your clan castle for offense. Of course a cc is great for defense too, but for active players we highly recommend you use it for attacks. Its an extra 10-15% boost in firepower. More requests means more opportunities to donate, so request freely! Just don't let your ratio get worse than 1:2 donations to requests. It sucks if you have 200 donations and 800 received, and it is equally bad if you have 500 donations and no received. I try for a 1:1 ratio but some seasons its closer to 1:2. Some seasons its 2:1. It really depends a lot but the main thing is that you be active!
2. It's ok to request for the types of troops that you would like. But try and give a low cost troop option such as archers or minions, as many clan members may not have the exotic or expensive (training time or elixer) troops you are requesting. If you wonder why no one donates to you, it could because no one has a pekka when the clan is farming! Or it could be that you ask for peks and wiz, and you always give lev4 archers.
3. Don't ask for troops you can't make yourself, and keep in mind the clan you are in for the troops that can be made. For example, if you are asking for troops that only your leader and a few high level clan members can make, that's not good. I personally don't ask for specific level troops to give the clan a chance to donate. And unless it's the last cups on a push to get to master 3, it really doesn't matter that much. And if you ask for expensive, high level troops, we should see you giving them as well. There's nothing worse than someone who requests drags, wiz and hogs and always donates archers. Give what you ask for!
4. After 5 minutes have elapsed and a request isn't filled, giving archers is ok. The idea here is that we don't want unfilled requests sitting out there too long. The default clan minimum archers is the rule here, so for Jedi Legacy its level 4 archers. That would be different in Jedi Revenge and Jedi Academy.
5. Fill requests from oldest to newest if possible. Supercell has made this easier with the green arrow button, so use it.
6. Read the request and honor it until the 5 minutes are up. A lot of misunderstandings happen when requests aren't read or honored.
7. If you are in doubt, ask the requestor what they are asking for and if what you are going to give is fine. Some requests are hard to understand, or our donators may not be native English speakers as we are an international clan.
8. Some tips on being a great donator:
Make troops before you raid. Use the queue function on barracks to build 5-10 archers ahead of time.
Make troops that you know you will donate with spare barracks capacity. For example, i make a drag or a wiz sometimes to give away when other barracks are busy and I know I'll be waiting. Once i raid, the troops are there to send, even the ones that take a while. Most of you do this but not everyone does.
Some examples of bad requests and reasons why:
Bad: pekka or witch. Not many people make pekkas or witches, and they are expensive and take a fair amount of time to train. This is surely the sign you are a noob or about to make crystal 1. Most don't have the latter as a reason either :)
Bad: drag, pekka or witch. Again, you are only asking for the moon here. It's likely your request sits there for five minutes, and then gets filled with archers.
Bad: drag lev3+, wiz lev5+, or hogs lev3+. This would be bad if you are in Jedi Legacy, TH8, level 55, and can't create those troops. This request would be ok in JR, and ridiculous in JA or JL.
Some examples of good requests and reasons why:
Good: flying troops or arch. You could give drag, healer, arch, or mins. Mins are low cost enough. You might be doing this because of air attack.
Good: anything level 4+ ( fine in JL, not good in JA). Wide range
Good: giants lev5+, wiz4+, or archers. You have a pref and know arch are default.
Great: wiz, drag preferred. Or arch are fine if that's all you have. Ditto
Good: wiz, drag, arch or dark troops. It doesn't specify level, and gives a wide range of acceptable troops
Great: archers only
Great: anything is fine except gobs, wallbreakers, or giants. Almost anything goes.
Great: anything is fine
9. You can get kicked over bad donations. Elders will warn once the first time, and then kick after that. Gobs, wall breakers, barbs, and giants seem to be the most hated troops to receive. If you send these to someone that didn't ask for them, you will get a negative reaction most of the time.
Examples of how you can get the warning or kick:
Example 1: Someone asks for wiz and arch, and you give barbs or gobs because that's all you have. You really shouldn't donate.
Example 2: Someone asks for a drag and archers, and you give four giants to get your donations up. So you give them. Expect a warning.
Example 3: You have greater than a 1:2 ratio of donations to requests. For those who aren't good at math, it means you have twice as many troops received as you have donated. What should you do? You should donate wiz or drag to get back to the ratio. Those will help as they are four and twenty points respectively. I'm doing this now in JR as my donations are close to the 1:2 mark, with the goal of getting close to 1:1. I made 26 wiz this am and just stayed under shield.
Anyway, I look forward to more discussions about this topic. But I wanted to write down how we are currently working donations in JL, and hopefully this helps you understand better.
Best,
