Jedi Constitution: This is How We Roll!
(updated July 9, 2014)
Hi Jedi,
We’ve attempted to write down the current rules for the Jedi Family of clans as of 7/9/2014. They will be subject to change from time to time, so look at the clan info page for the most up to date info. The most important part of a well run clan family is to have rules and consistency across the communities. We think we have achieved this.
As a current and former leader of JR and JL, here is my interpretation of how we roll. This is important to capture as we are at a point where we've replicated the culture in Jedi Revenge in Jedi Legacy. I've tried to answer the “why” question to the best of my ability and knowledge. We will update this page from time to time, but our hope is that this is useful.
The numbers below may change from time to time, so if in doubt, see clan info or ask a leader or co-leader.
Best!
/kimchidream
Here are the rules:
1. Min archer requirement for membership.
Rationale: we are encouraging our clan to grow and get stronger. Archers are a fair measure of strength, not necessarily cups. Although more cups helps for recruiting!
For Jedi Revenge, level 6 archers are required.
For Jedi Legacy, level 5 archers are required.
For Jedi Force, level 4 archers are required.
For Jedi Farming, the only requirement is that you were a member of a Jedi clan and that you need a place to park while inactive or busy, which happens from time to time. We ask you leave your clan after letting a leader or co-leader know that you are heading to Jedi Farming for personal reasons. Don't leave your clan in the middle of a clan war!
2. Noobs donate a minimum before requesting.
Rationale: This is a rule we enforce in both clans. If a noob (ie, a “newbie” or new clan member that just joined) requests before donating, then that is grounds for a kick out of the clan. We make every attempt to kick with respect, and it’s usually better if you ask the person to leave, but that’s a judgement call. The reason for this rule is to weed out clan “hoppers”. They are many out there that just request, get donations, and then leave. Elders and members should welcome noobs, ask them to read the clan info, and donate the min before requesting. It is really helpful if everyone does this!
For Jedi Revenge, it’s 25 minimum troops donated before requesting.
For Jedi Legacy and Jedi Force, it’s 20 minimum troops donated before requesting. The reason is that there are smaller clan castles at the lower levels.
3. Meet the minimum donation per week.
Rationale: We want an active clan and one of our cultural ideals is to be generous and a donating clan. More donations equals more active players, which means a stronger clan. From time to time, vacations, work, and school gets busy. There is life outside of COC that may prevent you from being active. Just let your leader know.
For Jedi Revenge, donate 500 troops/week.
For Jedi Legacy, donate 150 troops/week.
For Jedi Force, donate 150 troops/week.
For Jedi Farming, donate when you are able. :)
4. Elder is earned.
Rationale: Elder is a position of respect, and it is earned across all clans, assuming you meet the archer requirement. We use a weekly elders meeting to promote to elders after a discussion and vote. Please don’t ask for elder, just show that you are ready by your actions. There are plenty of small not so great clans out on global that will just give you elder, but most of them will fall apart quickly.
5. No cussing in clan chat.
We are a family clan.
Rationale: We have a number of kids in both clans, and there’s really no need for the gutter. There are plenty of clans out there that require it, but they are a really different culture than ours. If you need to, then maybe the Jedi are not the greatest fit.
6. Farming is ok
We encourage our clan to get stronger, and farming is a good way to do it. From time to time there will be trophy pushes in both clans.
Frequently Asked Questions
The following aren’t rules, but are more of a Q&A section on how we operate and what we value. These are frequently asked by members and elders from time to time.
What is Jedi Legacy and how is it related to Jedi Revenge?
Jedi Legacy is a feeder to the main clan, Jedi Revenge. It was founded by Jedi Revenge elders and the godfather BYT.
Jedi Force is the newest member of our clan family, and is doing quite well.
How should I think about donations? Do you allow donations other than archers?
We encourage our members to donate first and fill open requests before requesting yourself. Donate only what has been requested out of respect to the requester. If in doubt, please just ask the requester.
This has been a controversial topic, so I'll try my best to represent both sides of the issues. On one hand, we have those who would like donations to be equal or greater than troops received. On the other hand, we have those who think as long as you meet the minimum it's ok.
Here's my take: Try and keep your donations around the same level as the amount you receive, within reason. We recognize that this is not always possible, particularly if you raid a lot or have a large clan castle or requests are getting filled too fast. We encourage active participation, so if your donations get out of whack because you are raiding a lot, that’s ok. But we discourage anyone taking advantage of the clan generosity, and a quick chat with the member (or elder) is usually a good approach.
I encourage everyone to use the clan castle as offense, not defense. The reason why is that it will add +10-20% to your attack force, plus it will increase requests and give more donation opportunities.
For elders and leaders, it is too much administrative overhead to keep track of ratios so we monitor this very loosely.
Is participation on clan chat important?
Yes. Be friendly, and be a part of our clan chat. Get to know the clan. We are a growing, vibrant community, and it’s a great way to get to know people from all over the world and of all ages. It makes COC much more fun than just attacking the goblins.
How is elder earned?
For both clans, the major factors are the minimum clan rules, level of play, consistency in high donations, and good clan behavior/reputation. The last one is subjective but we are looking for maturity and role models. There are some exceptions by leader discretion.
For Jedi Revenge, it has been similar but less defined as we have higher level players. Let's just say you should be a donation machine, active in clan chat, and recruiting members.
For Jedi Legacy, we have been using 500+ donations/week, level 5 arch, and good clan reputation.
Jedi Force requirements are similar, just scaled down.
What are the expectations of an elder?
Be an example by donating and participating in clan chat. An active clan is a great clan and our community is a great one.
Enforce the rules but take the high road when doing it. Treat others with respect.
If you need to leave the clan, let the leader know before leaving. This goes for everyone, actually.
Don’t promote others to elder on your own.
Help recruit new members on global. This goes for members too!
Attend the elders meetings if you can. They are on Sat 6pm PST / 8pm CST / 9pm EST for both clans. Attendance is optional but recommended. You can send email to vote for your promotions/kicks. We don’t require attendance at the elders meeting to stay elder. And leaders occasionally change dates/times or may cancel it altogether.
How do I graduate to Jedi Revenge from Jedi Legacy?
Moving to JR from JL is totally optional. We recognize that the community is very important and that many players don't want to leave their clans where they have friends. However, we will have a "class" concept that allows a group of those who are ready to move up together. This is to help everyone adjust to the change and for grads to retain some sense of community. However, the second way below allows someone to just move up on their own.
There are two ways to graduate:
1) Make elder in Jedi Legacy.
We have a “Once a Jedi, always a Jedi” elder policy now. Elders that meet the minimum requirements can transfer clans. We ask that you let both leaders know. Also, we ask that you avoid hopping around back and forth too much, as it is disruptive.
2) Get level 6 archers, get to experience level 90+, and go “free agent” there.
Tell them you are from Jedi Legacy. If you meet the criteria and there’s open space, you should get in. If you want to ensure that they let you in, first ask for a recommendation from the leader of JL and he’ll message the leader of JR first. That’s the best way to avoid being out in the cold.
Can I move from Jedi Revenge to Jedi Legacy?
Yes! If you want to farm, have friends who don't have level 6 archers, connect with the folks in Jedi Legacy better, or just want to help more junior players then moving to JL is fine too. It's great to know a community across two clans.
If I have two iOS devices, can I have accounts in both clans? Or two accounts in one clan?
I think it's good for cross clan communication to have one foot in each clan. We call these types "dual citizens"! LOL. We have a number of elders and members that are in this situation. There are also families, brothers, GF and BF, and baseball team members. In general, we respect and encourage real life connections because it will mean a stronger clan.
For elders, elders isn't automatically transferred across accounts and is earned separately. In the future, we may be asking folks to choose which clan is primary if elder in both clans.
Whew, this is a lot of work. Hope this answers a lot of questions! I'm sure I haven't answered everything, so see you on clan chat!

Jedi Constitution: ThisJedi Constitution: This is How We Roll!
