Balloonion in High Leagues
So recently (7/1), the Jedi family- revenge, legacy, and force- pushed.
I say we did do pretty well. However, the family could have definitely done better, in my opinion, if the town hall 9s could have gone higher.
This guide mainly focuses on town hall 9. Do not try using this at an earlier town hall, as it is not as effective, and may cause you to lose quite a bit.
What is this strategy, anyways? It is balloonion, designed to work in the upper leagues (master 2+), and "counters" infernos. It does take a ton of elixir to use, and is very slow, so patience is key. A good day would probably be a 100-ish trophy gain. This strategy focuses on 1 starring town hall 10s, and many town hall 9s have used it to reach champions. Currently the th9 trophy record is floating around mid 3800s, and the record holder does use this strategy, so it is pretty effective. And with the new hero update, it only gets easier.
First- army composition. Army composition is really more your choice, but I prefer 20 max balloons, 60 minions (preferably level 4+), and 6 balloons in the clan castle. This composition is quick and not as heavy on elixir, and personally, I think it works the best. The composition, however, is completely up to you. Some people use 24 balloons 50 minions and 6 balloons in clan castle, and Liam from UK's Finest uses 28 balloons and 40 minions, plus all minions in clan castle, because you cannot control the deployment of the loons as they are coming out of the castle. Again, this is entirely up to you, and if you think 26 isn't enough loons, feel free to use more. Spells are really useful when using balloonion, but they can be saved if needed. You do not HAVE to use all 4 spells- even in master 1, I have used none before. I personally like 3 rage 1 lightning. Rage spells bring the balloons to the defenses faster, and the lightning is for clan castle troops, or to get some extra percentage. Heal spells, in my opinion, aren't too useful when one starring with balloonions, because you need to get to defenses as quick as possible. Again, this is entirely up to you.
Next up: what to attack. How upgraded the base is does not matter; this strategy can take out maxed out bases easy. When looking for a base to attack, you must pay close attention to the base design. This is extremely important, as a nicely designed base can easily take out loons easily. When searching, you are looking for many things. First, you must pay attention to the amount of trophies offered. This is fairly obvious, since a 4 trophy raid is a ton less than an 11 trophy raid. This can be important, because the strategy is extremely slow. Second, you should be looking for air defenses on the inside. This may sound weird, but believe me, you do NOT want air defenses on the outer layer of walls, defending some extra percentage. Also, low level air defenses are definitely a bonus, too. Next, you will have to be looking for outside archer towers, or archer towers fully protected in the core. The archer towers in the core will not be defending the percentage on the outside, and the archer towers on the outside will not be heavily defended by other defenses. Also, wizard towers in the second layer or even deeper inside the base is ideal, but not that big of a deal. Wizard towers can only defend up to 2 buildings (if they're placed in the corner). After that, you should look for interior inferno towers, and downward facing xbows. Interior inferno towers you will find everywhere, but just in case there is an easy base with multi-target infernos outside... don't attack it. Upward facing xbows are not too big of a deal, but do not attack a base with xbows near outside. Xbows can mow down a horde of minions in seconds. Xbows are underrated, and should definitely be feared. Xbows in the core, however, is completely fine. They most likely will not reach your minions and destroy them. After that, you want to look for inside heroes. With the new update, heroes can no longer be easily lured out. This makes one star attacks much easier. If the archer queen is inside, you don't have to deal with hSo recently (7/1), the Jedi family- revenge, legacy, and force- pushed.

Lots of outside buildings means more percentage. Do not attack bases with everything inside. Looking for bases is probably the hardest part of the strategy, and as long as you got this down, you are one big step closer to 1 starring maxed out th10s.
Say you have found a great base to attack. 34 trophies offered, air defenses fairly centralized, archer towers all at outer layers, and centralized infernos, xbows, and heroes. Also, many outside buildings. How do you attack this base? The main goal is to get to the archer towers and take them out. Wizard towers if possible, but archer towers are definitely a priority. It takes one balloon to take out a fully maxed archer tower (balloon impact damage destroys the tower if maxed). However, most of the time, you will have to use more. I typically use 2 on archer towers guarded by wizard towers, 4 if archer towers are right next to a single air defense, and 6 (clan castle) if archer tower is defended by 2 air defenses. If the air defense is somewhat close to the archer tower, use 3. It takes a bit of time to test this stuff out, and there is no fixed number for any archer tower. I would suggest practicing this a bit before actually using it. After the archer towers are down, use minions to pick off buildings. I would actually drop minions right after you deploy balloons to save some time. This, if done correctly, should get you to over 50% or at least 45%. Heroes should be used to take the last remaining percent (or loot!). Make sure to watch out for air bombs/seeking air mines. Those can be deadly, and may even ruin the raid. There is really no way to counter these; just prepare for the worst. Also, I found that looking for 2x2 holes in the base helps a ton, since they should contain teslas. Teslas, like xbows, completely destroy minions, so make sure to get rid of these ASAP as well.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you all luck when pushing!
